The alarm was raised at a farm in Oreton, near Cleobury Mortimer, at about 6pm yesterday when a six-bay barn caught fire.

Six crews from Bridgnorth, Cleobury Mortimer, Craven Arms, Ludlow and Tweedale, including a heavy pumping unit, water carrier and incident command and welfare units, were called to the tackle the blaze. They were supported by personnel from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service.

A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue said crews worked through the night to contain the fire and would be stepping up activity to extinguish the fire this morning.
