Fifty Shades of Grey author E L James today answered critics of her best-selling trilogy and said: "It's a love story. If my critics want to concentrate on the sex, that's their issue, not my issue." E L James today told how her dream was to see Fifty Shades of Grey in a bookshop - and that the success of the trilogy has taken her completely by surprise.

The best-selling author told the Shropshire Star that she was 'fed-up' with the media attention surrounding the series and added: "I can't own people's reaction to the books.

"My only dream was to see Fifty Shades of Grey in a bookshop - the explosion of interest has taken me completely by surprise."

EL James, who in her ‘other life’ is former television producer and mother of two has seen her novels break all records.

Sales of the first in the steamy trilogy, quickly reached a million on the Kindle e-book reader,  but Fifty Shades of Grey has broken print sales records too.
