It was standing room only as more than 300 people flocked to a meeting to discuss plans which could see hundreds of wind turbines, pylons and a substation built in Mid Wales.

The meeting, which was chaired by Montgomeryshire MP Glyn Davies, was held at Newtown Baptist Church yesterday and attracted campaigners from right across the region.

A panel of speakers included journalist George Monbiot, Peter Ogden, from the Campaign for the Protection of Rural Wales, and Brett Kibble, from the Conservation of Upland Powys.

Russell George, Montgomeryshire AM, was also involved in the meeting and said it was a 'fantastic' opportunity for people to have their say.
