Electricity bosses must choose between pylons or underground cables to feed electricity from newly-built wind farms in Mid Wales into the National Grid if they get the go-ahead. The 400kV connection would run from a new substation, to be built at either Cefn Coch or Abermule, and take one of 10 suggested routes.
Consultation events are now being held across Shropshire and Mid Wales to find a potential route for the 400,000-volt cable using pylons up to 50 metres high and a distance between them of 360 metres. Residents are being urged to have their say at the events, which will be held up until April.
But anyone struggling to attend can access key documents about the proposals at locations in Shropshire and Mid Wales.
Jane Taylor, for National Grid, said copies of reports, which include details on the route corridor, the substation siting study and the National Grid's statement on the community consultation, were now available at libraries in Shrewsbury, Oswestry, Newtown, Montgomery, Welshpool, Llanfair Caereinion, Llanfyllin, Llanidloes, Machynllethn, Pontesbury and Gobowen.
"These documents are also available for viewing at a number of council offices and civic centres," she said.
