A Powys man who indecently assaulted a young girl has been jailed indefinitely and put on the sex offenders register after admitting more than 40 sexual offences against children.

Anthony Martin Milsom, 62, of Chapel Street, Newtown, had an overwhelming and uncontrollable sexual obsession with very young children, Mold Crown Court was told yesterday.

Milsom had admitted 43 sexual offences dating back to the 1990s, including five charges of indecent assault on a girl when she was aged between four and eight.

Police found more than 5,100 indecent drawings, more than 200 indecent photos, 127,700 indecent images, and 500 indecent films and 188 home-made videos in his home. Many of them were in the worst category possible.

Andrew Green, prosecuting, said police found tapes Milsom had filmed of children at play.

Judge Niclas Parry made Milsom the subject of an indeterminate sentence and said he could only apply for release after three and a half years.
