Ghostbusters barred from Bridgnorth Town Hall
Thursday 17th February 2011, 11:47AM GMT.
Councillors have voted against allowing paranormal investigators to set up a ghost hunting operation in Bridgnorth Town Hall.
The North Wales Paranormal Group had asked if it could carry out a paranormal investigation following a visit by the group to the town’s Croft Hotel where members claimed to have discovered the spirit of a fireman and a maid.
But town councillors at a meeting on Tuesday agreed a ruling was in place that forbid any such investigations taking place in town council owned properties.
Paranormal group member Mike Griffiths said they had come across the town hall when carrying out an investigation at the hotel.
He wrote to the town council asking for permission to carry out a similar investigation at the timber-framed town hall.
In his letter he said: “The town hall looks an excellent location to search for paranormal activity.”

Can we have a reason why? Could bring business to the town.

Because spirits don’t exist so there’s no point wasting everyone’s time looking for them.

CJ – Because people in Shropshire still take this kind of thing seriously. The councillors probably consulted the bones and saw a bad omen.

Is the town hall classed as “licensed premises”? If not, there should be no spirits there anyway.

Who we gona call now?

Maybe it’s because the councillors are getting a little close to the “pearly gates” themselves!
Would have been interesting though, whether you believe in it or not, might have boosted tourism.

Personally, I think it’s a bunch of nonsense, but I can’t see the harm in it. There are practical considerations though; if they wanted access overnight, for example, then that would be out of the question.

You raise an interesting point; why do ghost hunters need overnight access? Why can’t they find ghosts during the day?

i think this would of been good, very intresting.change your mind.

Perhaps the ‘ghost hunters’ would like to set up in the High Street? An old story goes that horse/s and carriage passes along High Street occasionally and a lady in white!
Also – There’s another High Street building where ghosts of travelling players troup reside in the top rooms. See if you can work it out: Is it a plumbers? Is it a builders merchant? Is it a general and giftware store? No…. its a pub!
