Hope of new HQ for Oswestry rail museum

Oswestry’s railway museum could be given a new home within one of the town’s most important railway buildings.
Businesswoman Stephanie Booth has offered Cambrian Heritage Railways the old foundry within her railway engineering buildings, off Whittington Road, to convert into a museum.
Talks are being held to see whether the idea, which would see the existing museum at the railway’s Oswald Road headquarters replaced, is feasible.
Nigel Davies, chairman of Cambrian Heritage Railways, said: “The current building is simply not fit for purpose and the foundry is a museum in itself.
“The building is a stone’s throw away from the station building and with excellent parking and other tourism attractions on offer we think it would attract more visitors.”
Mrs Booth is converting the engineering sheds into a Fabulous Fun House indoor play centre.
