This site would be perfect for a Lidl or Netto.

it would be a perfect place for a royal mail sorting office

thats true, Newport’s economy wouldn’t be affected by that due to both supermarkets in the town are expensive and a majority of people go to asda or aldi in donnington to do their shopping already, so a netto or lidl in the high street would bring some of them back to newport.

Its a sad day. I worked there in the late eighties. Newport has lost another piece of it’s heritage!

I’m afraid that the people of Newport may find that the frequenecy and accuracy of their postal deliveries may suffer in same way that other victims of Shropshire closed Royal Mail sorting offices have found.
It’s a retrograde step in the name of “progress” – i.e. trying to save money to prop up an unsustainable pension fund.

yet another nail in Newports coffin, so customers won’t be affected we’ll have to wait and see…. tough if we are
I should imagine it’s all to make it a better prospect for when DHL buy royal mail
