An area of land in Bridgnorth has been named Ropewalk Dingle following a public on-line vote.

The greenspace land, just off Love Lane, has been known by many names over the years and Bridgnorth District Council decided it was time to give it an official identity.

For the past month the Countryside Team at the council has been running an online vote to decide on the final name of the site.

The area has been known by many different names including The Dingle, Severn Cliff and Bramble Ridge.

Amy Davies, greenspace support officer, said: "Having the public vote on the name meant that we could formally name the site under the most popular name.

"We did not want to decide on a name that will not get used."
