Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom, near Telford, has lodged plans with Telford & Wrekin Council to build the new enclosure and has now launched an appeal on Crowdfunder to raise the cash.

Donors, who can pledge as little as £1, are being offered a variety of treats in return for supporting the online appeal.

Free tickets to the attraction are being offered for a £10 pledge while those who donate £25 will get a Hoo Farm T-Shirt.

A family ticket to see the cheetahs when they arrive is being offered for a £40 pledge and other incentives for donating more towards the scheme include a free individual season ticket for unlimited visits during the 2016 season and a meerkat experience.

In return for a £300 pledge, Hoo Farm Animal Kingdom is offering a night at a local hotel along with a nocturnal badger experience and a full-day keeper experience.

A message on the Crowdfunder page reads: "Our enclosure will be a large paddock of approximately one acre with plenty of space for them to run.

There will also be high platforms and a waterhole to act as enrichment. The housing will, naturally, conform to all zoo regulations.

"Our cheetah will be sourced ethically from within the European zoo system."

The message on the fundraising site added: "2016, being our 25th anniversary, seems to finally be the year that we can push ahead with this amazing opportunity. However, we need your help."
