Road closed and investigation launched following 'serious' two-van crash in south Shropshire

Emergency services were called to a "serious" two-van crash on an A-road in south Shropshire on Sunday.

At around 9am, emergency services were called to a crash on the A488 between Bishops Castle and Lydham.

Two vans were involved in the collision and casualties were taken into the care of West Midlands Ambulance Service.

West Mercia Police officers, the Air Ambulance and crews from Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene.

The air ambulance attended alongside police, fire crews and a land ambulance.

Police confirmed the A488 was closed between Bishops Castle and Lydham while officers dealt with the incident.

Drivers were urged to find an alternative route.

Three fire appliances including the Rescue Tender were mobilised from Bishops Castle, Clun and Wellington. An Operations officer was also in attendance.

Fire crews used cutters/spreaders to deal with the incident.
