Moped rider who flouted Bridgnorth's one-way system is tracked down

An errant moped rider who hurtled down a town centre street the wrong way and refused to pull over for police officers, has been tracked down thanks to local businesses.

The two-wheeled nuisance was spotted by police officers in Bridgnorth High Street on Saturday night but failed to stop.

A spokesperson for the force said thanks to the CCTV installed at local businesses, they had managed to track the rider down, who is set to be prosecuted.

The spokesperson said: " Thanks to the swift support of local businesses and a prompt review of CCTV footage, officers were able to identify the rider, who had ridden the wrong way down Bridgnorth High Street and failed to stop when requested. 

"A Notice of Intended Prosecution has now been issued. We’re incredibly grateful to the businesses who assisted, your cooperation plays a vital role in helping us keep our town safe. 

"One-way means one way. It’s dangerous, and it won’t be ignored."
