With just days to go, anticipation is building for a special community celebration marking the 80th anniversary of VE Day, taking place this Monday, 5 May, at the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre in Craven Arms.

Join us this Monday, 5 May, as Craven Arms marks 80 years since VE Day with a vibrant day of remembrance, music, and community spirit — all taking place at the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre.
Organised by the Craven Arms Community Events Committee, this special event brings together history and local life with something for everyone to enjoy.

Live Music from Bertie Blighty performing wartime favourites in full 1940s uniform
Military Police Reenactors and vintage memorabilia
Swing Dancing, vintage displays, and dress-up fun
Historical Talks and photo exhibitions
Picnics & Local Food
Community Garden Open Day – explore the gardens, meet the team, and learn about local growing projects!
There will be children’s activities all free. 1940s or red, white and blue fancy dress optional but there will be a prize for the best.
You can bring a picnic or grab a takeaway from Discovery Centre their new outside hatch is open
The Craven Arms Community Garden plays a key role in supporting local wellbeing, learning, and connection. It’s a space where children, families, and community groups grow their own food, learn about sustainability, and enjoy time outdoors together.
