Good news for residents - cancelled Santa visit re-scheduled

Residents in the Shrewsbury suburb of Mount Pleasant, disappointed when the eagerly-awaited traditional Santa sleigh run had to be cancelled due to the stormy weather, will be delighted to hear that Santa will make an appearance on his new sleigh after all.

When the anti-gravity ski sleigh completes a six-hour visit to Morrisons on December 18, the good news is that Santa and Rudolph will be winging their way to Mount Pleasant for a one stop only visit at Radio Shropshire.

Santa is scheduled to complete Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club’s six-hour programme at Morrisons at 6pm and as soon as possible after that he will be guiding the sleigh on the short journey to the radio station to meet and chat to enthusiasts both young and not-so-young.

“We are sure that the revised visit will be most welcomed by local people, particularly the children,” said Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club’s president David Morris.

“I can only thank Santa and our sleigh organisers for making this visit possible following the storm and what will inevitably be a very busy day’s programme at Morrisons.

“But there is no rest for Santa – he is in action every day right up to December 23 when our seasonal visits conclude at Tesco,” he added.

Shrewsbury Severn Rotary Club further announce new Santa sleigh dates for the benefit of enthusiasts. Santa on his new sleigh will be visiting Radbook Green Community Centre at 6pm tonight (December 12), two days later Castlefields at 6pm, and then on Saturday, 21 December will be touring the Monkmoor area, starting by the shops on Conway Drive at 6pm.
