Shrewsbury Town to appeal Ben Godfrey red card
Shrewsbury Town are planning to appeal the red card given to Ben Godfrey in the Checkatrade Trophy defeat to Walsall.
Norwich loanee Godfrey was dismissed during the second half of Tuesday's 1-0 loss at Montgomery Waters Meadow.
But Town are hoping to get the decision overturned so Godfrey can escape a suspension.
Boss Paul Hurst felt the dismissal was harsh, saying: "The lad commits to a slide, well ahead of when he should and therefore gets himself hurt.
“Ben clearly wins the ball, the lead foot that gets the ball doesn’t make contact with him. Its just another case of you not being able to make a strong tackle in football, which annoys the hell out of me.”
