Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe both scored hat-tricks as Paris St Germain claimed an emphatic revenge win over Ligue 1 bottom club Guingamp.

Just 10 days after their shock loss to the same team in their Coupe de la Ligue quarter-final, PSG roared to a 9-0 win with Neymar (two) and Thomas Meunier also on the scoresheet.

Their win saw the hosts regain their 13-point lead at the top of the table with two games in hand over their nearest rivals Lille.

Neymar opened the scoring in the 11th minute before two Mbappe strikes put the result beyond doubt before half-time.

The hosts turned on the style after the break with six more goals, with two from Cavani making it 5-0, Neymar adding a sixth, and both Cavani then Mbappe completing their respective hat-tricks before Meunier added the ninth.

Thierry Henry’s Monaco suffered a calamitous 5-1 home defeat to Strasbourg as their battle to avoid relegation from the top-flight looks increasingly bleak.

Monaco did not recover from the seventh minute dismissal of defender Naldo for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity, as goals from Ludovic Ajorque and Adrien Thomasson gave the visitors a 2-0 lead.

Radamel Falcao reduced the deficit on 22 minutes but Monaco fell apart after the break, despite Strasbourg also being reduced to 10 men in the 69th minute following Stefan Mitrovic’s red card.

Ibrahima Sissoko made it 3-1, Ajorque added his second and Youssouf Fofana completed a comfortable win for Strasbourg with the fifth in added time.

Former Arsenal striker Yaya Sanogo scored the only goal of the game in the 41st minute as Toulouse got back to winning ways with a 1-0 success at Nimes.

Remi Walter’s penalty deep into added time salvaged a point for Nice in a 1-1 draw at Reims, who had looked on course for victory through Remi Oudin’s early strike.
