Kenny Dalglish has been knighted in the Queen’s Birthday Honours.

The 67-year-old former Liverpool player and manager has been honoured for services to football, to charity and to the city of Liverpool.

Here, Press Association Sport looks at the social reaction to the list.

Bournemouth striker Jermain Defoe, who befriended Bradley Lowery – a terminally-ill six-year-old fan with neuroblastoma – was handed an OBE for services to his Jermain Defoe Foundation.

World heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua received an MBE for services to sport, three months after beating Joseph Parker to maintain his bid to unify the division.

Lizzy Yarnold, Britain’s most decorated winter olympian with two gold medals, was also given an OBE for services to winter olympic sport.
