Shropshire golfer is England's best amateur
Shropshire golfing sensation Ashley Chesters has been confirmed as the country's best amateur after finishing top of England Golf's Order of Merit.
Chesters topped the table with 136,788 points, comfortably ahead of Nick Marsh from Huddersfield who finished on 99,530.
The 25-year-old said: "I have looked at who has won it previously and there are some great players so it is a good title to have won.
"The highlight of the year was winning the European title again but I also had a lot of top five finishes."
