Mid Wales coaches set for US chance
Football coaches in Mid Wales are being given the chance of a career in the US ahead of a talent spotting event being held in Welshpool later this month.
Kurtis Smith, from Newtown, has been coaching in the US recently and is back in the UK in a bid to attract new coaches to make the move.
Smith came through the ranks at Newtown AFC, and is a former student at Newtown College.
He earned a football coaching and performance degree in South Wales and held performance analysis and coaching positions in the academy at League One side Cardiff City.
Back in 2017, he made a move to New York and became director of club development at Beestera Soccer Training, an organisation that partners clubs to develop programmes, run camps and train players.
Last summer they had 3,000 players taking part - and as well as this he has spent the last three seasons as head coach of women's team, New York Shockers.
An event will take place on at Welshpool FC on November 30 from 11am to 1pm - and is designed to provide information and select coaches to work on summer camps in the US in 2026.
