The 27-year-old is back six years after last icing for the Shropshire team. He played for Tigers during the 2011-12 season and returns to the club after spells at Guildford Flames and Manchester Storm in the Elite League last season.

He made 53 appearances for the two teams and will add grit to the Tigers line-up next season.

General manager and head coach Tom Watkins said, “I’m sure the fans will be as excited as I am to see Andy back in Telford. I’ve tried to sign him every season since he left. He is exactly what this team needs.”

"A guy that competes every night, goes to the net and gets his nose dirty. Andy is an excellent skater, has very high work ethic and plays with an edge.

"This is appreciated by his teammates and the fans and it’s that tenacious character that really stands out. He is also very capable of putting up some numbers and has been part of several Championship winning teams in the past. He knows what it takes to win.”

McKinney added: ”I’m really happy to be back at Telford. This is where it all started for me back when I got my chance at senior level. I’m excited to play for Tom once more and looking forward to playing alongside Jason (Silverthorn) and Scott (McKenzie) once again.”
