Tigers have claimed top spot after three victories in the last week, the latest a 14-1 thrashing of Deeside Dragons on Wednesday.

Second-placed Sheffield Steeldogs and third-placed Hull Pirates have one and two games in hand respectively.

And ahead of trips to Billingham Stars tonight and Blackburn Hawks tomorrow, Watkins knows the next few weeks will be key.

"It's still very close and the next two or three weeks will be important," said Watkins.

"We have Sheffield and Hull next week, and Hull again the week after.

"I'm not sure what affect us being top will have on our opponents, but it's an extra incentive for us. It's in our hands and we know what we have to do."

Tigers have a full squad available apart from Jack Watkins, who is still out with a broken collarbone.
