The 15-year-old king of the slopes has completed a 'phenomenal' campaign dominating the titles around the continent and is now leading the way in his under-16 age group worldwide.

Adams' haul of results this season have shocked his coaching team and family alike. Fourteen first places from 18 events, with four runners-up, means Adams has put himself in the snowboarding elite.

The youngster also broke the world's top 100 for any age category and get next season under way competing at Europa standard with a view on cracking the World stage before Winter Olympic level, with Beijing 2022 in his sights.

Adams now sits 83rd in the global overall snowboard league and he is 2nd in the UK rankings, just three points behind Winter Olympic bronze medal winner Billy Morgan.

Alongside his well deserved rest throughout the spring and summer Adams will head across the planet to the Junior World Championships in Cardrona, New Zealand in August, where he will represent Britain.

Dad Joe – who now has Adams back at the family home in Worfield after the youngster ended his four-month stint for the 2018 season living in Austria based with the highly-rated club Why Ain't You Jibbin'? – has been astonished by his son's performances.

He said: "To see how he has grown since starting snowboarding age eight is an amazing thing.

"He spends four months abroad and fends for himself while being with the most amazing coaching team.

"We know how hard he works and how driven he is. You hear about players in golf or tennis meeting that tipping point where everything starts to come into place and that's what has happened.

"It's been a long, long season. He's growing. We knew things were good when he just started getting firsts and seconds!

"He was something like 167nd in the world (overall). He was climbing 20 places, then 40 places, and you start thinking 'hang on, he's not far off going into the world top 100'.

"Becoming number one in the world at under-16s while still 14 was a phenomenal thing. It's gone from there on to breaking the top 100 overall."

The talented Wrekin School student has took top spots across Europe in venues such as Germany, Austria and Italy.

Recent first place results Overall Male Q parks snowboard tour final in Obergurgle and the Zillertal valley valley Series Grom category have helped put Adams further on the map.

He was within three points of top spot in the World Rookie Tour event in Khuta, Austria, after sweeping aside competition over a dozen heats from the star German and Italian youngsters, only a top ranked Japanese rider could eclipse Adams after a smoother landing following a soar through the skies.

Joe added how commentators, coaches and former professionals have lauded the 15-year-old's ability as some of the best and most exciting they have witnessed on the circuit.

He recalled one competition where his son was only eligible to compete at junior level but had also come out on top against senior snowboarders.

Adams' father added how some of the moves his son pulls off – which are said to be among some of the elite snowboarding tricks in the catalogue – often leave him staggered.

"It's daunting to watch," added Joe. "Some of these kickers are 22 or 28m and he's flying 35m through the air.

"They are constantly assessing the tricks scope and trick level. Gabe is pretty close to Billy Morgan and Red Gerard (British and American Winter Olympian)."

For now Adams will catch up on some well-earned rest throughout the spring months but the 15-year-old will be itching to get back out on the mountains come the summer and further perfect his impressive craft.

According to his father, Adams is 'super stoked' – a snowboarding phrase – to build on his immense success.

He is on an upward trajectory to the top in the snowboard field and is flying at some rate of knots.
