After being put into bat at Bomere Heath, Shropshire finished their 45 overs on 154-9 with Katie Green top scoring with 41.

Shropshire’s bowlers kept things tight at the start of the Oxfordshire innings with Green claiming 1-17 from seven overs and Eleanor Taylor striking with her second delivery. Skipper Lara Jones then picked up two wickets before Heath entered the fray with devastating effect.

She claimed 4-9 from seven overs, before Harriet Shuker nipped in at the end to claim 2-5 to finish things off.

The Under-15 girls continued their recent good form, picking up two victories in the space of four days.

Travelling to Bicester to take on Oxfordshire, they bowled their hosts out for just 101. All the bowlers kept things tight with Charlotte Fox leading the way with 4-18, while Emily Churms claimed two wickets for just one run from five overs. Shuker took 2-22 and Millie Jones 2-12.

After losing two early wickets in their reply, Nyah Edwards ensured there was no collapse with a rapid unbeaten 48 as Shropshire raced to victory in the 16th over.

They then took on Buckinghamshire at Albrighton. After Megan Trickett (26) and Beth Charnell (21) had laid the platform, skipper Ellie Micklewright struck 41 off 32 balls as Shropshire made 168-9.

Buckinghamshire found themselves in some trouble on 27-3 but a half-century partnership appeared to be putting them back on track when a quick piece of thinking by Micklewright saw her throw off her keeping glove and run out Alexa Wilson with a direct hit.

Shropshire then continued to pick up wickets at regular intervals to dismiss the visitors for 125 to claim a 43-run victory. Shuker led the way with 3-28, while Keely Jones claimed 2-22 and Kiah Patel 2-26.

Coach Louise Pugh said: “It was a superb victory by the girls, but the team spirit was the bigger winner. They showed lovely energy throughout the game.”

The Women’s XI were rocked by injuries during their double-header T20 against Leicestershire and Lincolnshire at Quatt.

They lost Nyah Edwards, who had picked up an ankle injury the evening before, and then Ria Fackrell dislocated a finger in the second over of the game against Leicestershire.

Coach Ian Gregory said: “We had to field with 10 for the majority of the overs, so to keep Leicestershire to a score of 100 was a top effort.”

Courtney Cooper, Zoe Griffiths, Sammi Short, Jones and Heath all picked up wickets, but a disappointing reply saw them dismissed for just 47.

They had more luck in their game against Lincolnshire where, batting first, they finished on 102-8 largely thanks to openers Jones (29) and Cooper (23).

Tight bowling in the reply restricted Lincolnshire to 89-7 to give Shropshire victory by 13 runs with Heath (2-10) and Jones (2-18) the standout bowlers..

Gregory added: “We are still in the hunt for first place with our next games against Leicestershire again and Cheshire, we just need to make sure we get a lot of runs on the board to help our bowlers.”

The Under-11 girls had another good day with two victories in T20 games against Gloucestershire and Wales.

Against Gloucestershire, they made 111-4 off their 20 overs with skipper Amy Griffiths hitting an unbeaten 42.

Two early run outs put Gloucestershire on the back foot, and the bowlers then did the rest with Mariella Mcrae leading the way with 3-9 as they were dismissed for 60.

In the game against Wales, Shropshire scored 105-4 with Lauren Kenvyn hitting 36 and Griffiths again in the runs with an unbeaten 24.

The skipper then claimed the wickets of both openers while Phoebe Jones took 3-11 as Wales were restricted to 84-6.
