The Telford side enjoyed a 7-3 (158-117) home success over Moor Lane A to move level on points with the second-placed visitors.

Sam Millward picked up the MVP for his 21-9 win over Alan Cooke.

Castlefields took a huge step towards securing their Premier League status with a 9-1 (163-102) thrashing of Tanworth in Arden.

Keith Walton led the way with a 21-12 victory over Adam Judge that earned him the MVP award.

Skipper Mark Taylor believes a settled side has helped his men to climb up the table in recent weeks.

“It was another good home result and pleasing to get some more points on the board,” he said.

“We had a good first four but there was some excellent bowling all round, particularly from Keith.

“We have to go there next week and look to get some away points, or maybe even sneak an away victory. But it will be tough because they are a different proposition at home.”

High-flying King George V proved too strong for St Georges as the visitors fell to a 8-2 (165-116) defeat.

Peter Grimston and Sonya Lucas, who picked up the MVP after winning a tight 21-20 tussle against Chris Bergin, earned the points for St Georges.

Skipper Glyn Picknell said: “They are a good side and we were a little bit undermanned with a few people away for different reasons.

“I think two is about par, and it could have been worse as our two winners were quite tight.

“Sonya came in at the last minute and played very well, she was excellent.

“We won the league last year and only got one there, now we just need to make sure we don’t lose at home next week.

“If we pick points up at home we should steer clear of relegation.”
