Ashley Chesters tees up a £13k Aussie prize

Shropshire golfer Ashley Chester collected £13,000 after his tied 12th-place finish at the ISPS Handa Victorian Open in Australia.

The Hawstone Park pro carded rounds of 68, 67, 73 and 69 to finish 11 under par at the tournament in Geelong

The result was Chesters’ best of the European Tour to date and puts him 85th in the Race To Dubai standings.

It was won by Scotland’s David Law who produced a spectacular finish to overhaul long-time leader Wade Ormsby and win his first European Tour title.

Former Shropshire & Herefordshire junior Aaron Rai collected another £10,000 in prize money. He carded rounds of 69, 67, 73 and 69 to finish 10 under par .

The result leaves 23-year-old Rai, who won his maiden European Tour victory this season, in seventh position in the Race To Dubai standings.
