The Hawkstone Park player from Wem went into the final day at at Close Hous well placed on seven under par.

However four bogies in the first eight holes saw him slip down the leaderboard and two two late birdies were marred by another dropped shot on the 17th as he signed for a three-over round of 73.

Chesters finished on four-under in a tie for 5th place and pocketed just over £11,000 in an event won by Ireland’s Paul Dunne on 20 under par, with Rory McIlroy three shots further back.
