Steve Bull: Leander Dendoncker having to wait his Wolves turn

Signed in the summer on a loan deal which will be made permanent next summer for £12million, he is yet to be included in a Premier League squad.

He is a Belgian international – part of the side which finished third at the World Cup earlier this year – and has Champions League and Europa League experience from his time with Anderlecht so it is surprising that he has not had any involvement other than the two League Cup games.

But that just speaks volumes about the amount of quality Nuno has at his disposal. Dendoncker probably will not be involved at Brighton today either. He obviously has a lot of talent, given the money Wolves have agreed to pay for him.

The 23-year-old defender looked decent in those Cup games against Sheffield Wednesday and Leicester as well.

I cannot see Nuno changing things at the back at the Amex though. The defensive three had a bad day at the office against Watford but, other than that, they have been playing out of their skin so it would be a big surprise to see Willy Boly, Conor Coady or Ryan Bennett drop to the bench.

And Kortney Hause has been among the substitutes for all nine Premier League games so taking him out of the squad would come as a surprise too.

Dendoncker just has to be patient and when the chance finally presents itself, he must grasp it with both hands.

Brighton today is going to be a tough one as Chris Hughton knows that team inside-out – they are very well drilled and are fresh off back-to-back victories. It is a long way to go but I am sure Nuno’s lot will be ready, physically and mentally, to respond from last weekend’s disappointment.

Wolves are yet to suffer back-to-back league defeats under Nuno. They will have to work hard, be at it right from the start, and, actually, a point would represent a good day’s work as Brighton are a strong side and 16 points from 10 games would be a steady return.
