Matt Doherty excited by Wolves' new signings

Matt Doherty says Wolves' record signing Adama Traore can be 'unplayable' – and believes integrating the club's new signings won't be a problem.

Traore is stepping up his fitness as he recovers from a dislocated shoulder, suffered 10 days before he made an £18million move from Middlesbrough.

Doherty faced the Spaniard last season and believes he and Wolves' many new signings will settle in quickly.

"We played against him last season and at times he's unplayable – I've not seen that type of running with the ball, pace and power, from anyone," Doherty said.

"The recruitment's been good, the club has brought in some very good players and I'm sure the manager will get us all to gel.

"Last season he did that with the new signings so it won't be a problem."

Wolves drew 2-2 with Everton on Saturday and now face another top half team from last season in Leicester City.

Irishman Doherty says confidence is high in the Wolves camp as they build on their momentum from last year's title success.

However, the wing back, who stated he thought Wolves would win the league after their opening-day win over Middlesbrough last year isn't making a prediction for the campaign ahead.

"I'm saying nothing!" he joked. "That could come back and bite me.

"I think we'll be good, confidence means a lot in football and it's pretty high at the moment.

"We know it's not going to be easy, it will be tough. But that's why we're in the league, we want to be challenged.

"The confidence is always pretty high in the camp. Why would it not be after the success of the season we've just had.

"It's a bit like the Championship, every game is hard, but the difference in the Championship is you can go to places and think you can definitely win there, or at home almost a guaranteed win.

"This year it's a bit more 50/50 and whoever plays better on the day will win."

Doherty also believes Wolves' excellent home record will be important.

"The manager's said to us before how important the home factor is.

"We had a good record at home last season and it is important.

"A good atmosphere when the fans are behind you makes a difference, it can really get you through the last five or 10 minutes of a game."
