The German side won 5-4 on penalties after the 45-minute clash finished 0-0.

Wolves' best effort in open play saw new striker Raul Jimenez sting the palms of Bochum goalkeeper Felix Dornebusch with a curling effort from 25 yards.

Rui Patricio, making his first appearance for the club, did his best to send Nuno Espirito Santo's side through to the final as he saved two penalties, but they were beaten in sudden death.

The H-Hotels Cup is a four-team tournament - consisting of two semi-finals before a third place play-off and a final, all 45-minute games - being held at Vonovia Ruhrstadion in Bochum.

Wolves will face Real Betis in the third place play-off after they lost 3-2 to Borussia Monchengladbach in the first game of the day.
