Nuno Espirito Santo is 'confident' star man Ruben Neves will stay with Wolves this summer, as he stated the fate of the current players will be decided before moving for transfer targets.

Neves looks set to stay despite widespread reported interest from some of Europe's big clubs including Manchester United and AC Milan.

The head coach has worked with Neves for the past two seasons, having managed him at Porto.

"I am confident because I know Ruben and what is important for Ruben," Nuno said.

"I know what Ruben wants and what Ruben needs as a player."

Wolves are preparing for yet another busy summer with a high turnover of outgoings and incomings likely.

The futures of five loan players – Alfred N'Diaye, Leo Bonatini, Benik Afobe, Willy Boly and Ruben Vinagre – are high on the immediate priority list.

Final decisions haven't been made but the Express & Star understands it's unlikely Bonatini will join on a permanent deal.

Nuno said work has begun in earnest on their transfer targets but decisions will be made on the current squad first.

"As normal as every club is, we have a department of scouting which is already working on it," he said.

"We have a lot of names, we have to take care of our players we have, that are here with us and work every day.

"That is the first decision, not the ones who are coming in, the ones who are here – stay, go on loan....then we will busy like always."

Building a player's mentality will be key to any new signings, the head coach stated.

"You build mentality and habits create routines," he added.

"When I’m seeing players, I don’t know their mentality. I can see their skills, tactical and technical.

"You build your mentality, you create habits and habits become routines.

"Things are changing. You saw what we are doing behind, things are changing, the owners are trying their best to give us the best facilities to work and this is what is more important.

"We as a team must go in the same rhythm."
