Nuno targeting a ton of points for Wolves

Wolves set their sights on reaching 100 points this weekend with Nuno Espirito Santo demanding: “I want to achieve more.”

Victory over Sheffield Wednesday at Molineux on Saturday will take Nuno’s team to 101 points – and make them just the sixth team to hit three figures in the second tier.

Since the introduction of three points for a win in 1981, only Sunderland (in 1999), Fulham (2001), Reading (2006), Newcastle (2010) and Leicester (2014) have reached the milestone.

Nuno said: “It’s very special. Now I want to achieve more, I want to have more points. We want to win every game and get better.”

The head coach also praised Wolves’ professionalism for winning 4-0 at Bolton despite knowing they were already up – although he wants improvements from his team in the last two matches of the season.

“(Not just) on Saturday but also during the week, it’s not easy to keep on going and pushing yourself knowing you’ve achieved something,” he added.

“This means we have a lot of space to grow and improve.

“We’ll try this week and next week, then we’re going to rest. I think they could do better! The chances we created (at Bolton) deserved a better finish – I’ll push on that this week!”

Meanwhile, centre-half Conor Coady believes promotion is just the first step to where Wolves want to be.

The 25-year-old said: “This club can go big. You listen to what the owners are saying and what they do – everything is there for us and I do mean everything, the training ground, the stadium, the facilities.

“When you hear the owners and the manager speak it’s like it’s another step on what this club wants to do.

“We’re enjoying the moment and what we’ve done because it’s no mean feat being promoted from the Championship.”

Wolves will be presented with the Championship trophy after Saturday’s game, it has been confirmed.

It’s the fourth time in Wolves’ history they have clinched the Championship/Second Division title.

They will lift the trophy following Saturday’s game – the final fixture at Molineux this season – which kicks off at 3pm.
