The influential Portuguese maestro was nominated for both Sky Bet Championship Player and Young Player of the season, but the awards instead went to Fulham's teenage sensation Ryan Sessegnon.

Promotion-winning Molineux chief Nuno Espirito Santo had been trumped for Championship Manager of the Season by Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock.

Skipper Conor Coady, midfield partner Neves and goalkeeper John Ruddy were included in the Championship Team of the Season, which was also recognised at The Hilton Hotel awards in London tonight.

Wolves were yesterday guaranteed of a Premier League return after their six-year absence as Brentford netted a last-gasp equaliser against Fulham.

Nuno's men crowned promotion in style by securing a comfortable 2-0 derby success against Birmingham City at Molineux today thanks to goals from Diogo Jota and Benik Afobe.
