Wolves fans face tickets scramble

And unused seats by the side of the South Bank would be reopened to boost Molineux’s capacity by almost 1,000.

The club currently has around 21,500 season ticket holders, a huge hike of 8,000 from last season with many fans having snapped up half season tickets during the current campaign.

However, it’s believed that 21,500 figure can only rise by less than 2,000, with away tickets, general sales and corporate seats taking up the rest of Molineux’s capacity.

Wolves will soon release details of their season ticket prices for 2018/19 and managing director Laurie Dalrymple, speaking to the club’s fans’ parliament, asked supporters to ‘put your faith in the club’ when it comes to pricing, which he hinted would have to increase.

He said: “It is obviously dependent on a variety of things; where we are, who we are playing, who we are investing in and what we are doing with the infrastructure of the club as well.

“But we have done our homework and have analysed a number of factors that will be relevant with regards to pricing, whilst at the same time protecting the principles we laid out last year to have a fair and appropriate pricing strategy for all.

“The announcement will be coming soon. What I will say is, that when evaluating what is an appropriate price, it’s important to look at a number of factors, the ability of our playing staff, management and coaching staff. We are in a good place – but we are still going to see all forms of income to the club as critical even if we are promoted.”

Meanwhile, in the event of promotion the temporary Graham Hughes stand, which has lay dormant for several years, would be reopened.

Dalrymple, who reiterated that if Molineux is redeveloped the club remains open to introducing safe standing and suggested the South Bank would be the first stand to be expanded should the expansion plans go ahead, said the Graham Hughes stand wasn’t currently fit for purpose.

A meeting report stated: “The reopening of the Graham Hughes Stand – not currently fit for purpose because ‘fairly minor’ work needs to be done – would definitely be done if Wolves reach the Premier League.”
