The league leaders were humbled 4-1 at Villa Park and saw their lead to third place duly cut to seven points.

A disappointed Nuno said: "Lots of things went wrong. With a result like we have to admit we didn't do a good game, a lot of things went wrong.

"For example set pieces, poor defending I think for the first and second goals. Set pieces are something we've been working on.

"We have to defend better and take a look at the game.

"The first half we were good and in control of the game. The beginning of the second half was bad, we have to find the issues there to avoid it next time.

"Of course (the second half performance) surprised me. I tried to react. There were a lot of situations that put Villa in the game.

"Our approach was clear, we were going for the game because I thought we were in control."

Wolves will now look to bounce back with home games against Reading and Burton on Tuesday and Saturday respectively.

Nuno backed his players to recover from such a disappointing defeat.

"They'll be upset of course, it's a tough moment for me, the boys, for our fans, everyone at Wolves," he said.

"We have to stick together and bounce back on Tuesday.

"Even when you win, you do mistakes that you try and sort for the next time.

"We don't have time to stay in sorrow.

"The mental strength, this is when we have to show it. Tomorrow we're going to train, we're going to rest and recover well. Football always gives you a chance (to react)."
