Ryan Bennett: Wolves are relentless

Wolves' unquenchable thirst for points has seen them race 14 clear of third place with 20 games of the Championship season remaining.

And the mantra emanating from all corners of Molineux is "we won't take our foot off the gas".

When they say it you believe them. And Bennett is no different.

"It's instilled from the top, that's the difference I think," he said. "With the results come belief.

"We have meetings and the way things are done to make us believe in what we're doing...that's what everyone's bought into to and that's 20-25 players.

"We know we've got to keep that going because it means nothing at the minute. The players here are all committed.

"Everything the staff do is perfect. There's no secrets – the way they do things is planned to a tee, the way you prepare and train it's all done properly. The results have come out of that."

Bennett had to bide his time for a regular place in side, but since coming into the team for a 2-0 win over his old club Norwich in October he – and Wolves – haven't looked back.

Wolves are unbeaten since then and Bennett is actually yet to taste defeat in a Wolves shirt. His personal unbeaten run stretches back 21 matches to April 14 when he was still at Carrow Road.

However Bennett insisted: "I don't think about them things! It's been a while.

"There's no way people are going to relax and I think people can see that.

"The demands that are on us every day is going to keep us going.

"It's understandable (that he had to wait for a place in the team) especially with the new manager coming in, the team was settled and doing well so that's the way it is.

"You get through them times and if you get your chance you've got to take it. Hopefully I can stay in the team."

Bennett was Wolves' hero two weeks ago when heading home a dramatic 94th minute winner at Bristol City as 10-man Wolves came from behind to win 2-1 at Ashton Gate.

It was arguably the moment of the season so far.

"It's nice to be up there and get a goal at that time," he said. "It was a tough game, we knew it was imperative not to lose and we wanted to win. We knew if we won it would send a big statement out to everyone else.

"It just shows the character in the team we've all got.

"It was a big win but it means nothing now. Hopefully when we push over the line we might look back at that."

Barnsley will today be the latest team to try and beat the league leaders.

Bennett knows the Tykes will raise their game – but he says Wolves have answered all their sceptics so far this season.

"When you're at the top everyone's trying to shoot you down," he said. "People want to see you fail when you're at the top – I think we've answered them questions.

"Plenty of us have played for teams against the bigger teams and teams that are doing well. You know the feeling you get when you have them sort of games, it's a free game for them really.

"We have our plans and the way we do things and we'll be sticking with that from now until the end of the season.

"Hopefully it'll be enough."
