Norris and the Wolves defence were unbeatable against City, taking the Premier League leaders all the way to penalties after a 0-0 draw.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper didn’t concede a goal in his four Carabao Cup appearances and was the first keeper to keep a clean sheet against City since Manchester United's David De Gea back in April.

He believes Wolves will be able to pick themselves up from a crushing defeat.

“We’ve got a really together group this year," he said. "If adversity does strike the boys are there to pick each other up – it’s just the type of group we’ve got.

“It’s nice to keep the clean sheets, it’s what I’m here for. I’ve been very lucky to have 10 unbelievable players in front of me – they deserve great credit. I owe them a tremendous amount because they made some unbelievable blocks.

"We did ourselves proud. Penalties is a lottery but it was nice to push them the whole way and I thought it was fair it went to penalties.

"The lads were unbelievable. The way we defended was really good.

"There were a lot of heads on the floor (in the dressing room) but time will heal that."

The keeper also praised his opposite number Claudio Bravo for twice denying Bright Enobakhare.

“Bravo did unbelievably well for the chances,” Norris said. “Bright’s done all he can – he’s got them on target and the keeper’s pulled off some fantastic saves.

“The performance was the main thing. We weren’t too worried about the result – we knew if we put in a performance the result would come.

“Clean sheets is what I’m here for. It’s a cruel way to go out, but someone had to go out.

“You can’t have any regrets from a game like that.

“Our fans were amazing – they could have given us 30,000 tickets and we’d have sold them out – they’ve been incredible for us this whole season.”
