Steve Bull: Promotion is key to all grand plans for Molineux

Fosun have got big ideas for Wolves and the subject of Molineux’s redevelopment came up again this week.

Of course it would be superb if the ground was bigger – but not if there are going to be empty seats every Saturday.

Wolves will need to be in the Premier League to sell out Molineux and obviously that’s the priority now.

And if they do go up then spending money on the team has to come first – we don’t want a situation like last time where a lot of money went on the stand. The ambition is fantastic and hopefully in a few years’ time we’re talking about Wolves being a solid Premier League club with a bigger stadium being sold out every week.

We’re not shouting from the rooftops but it’s nice to be talking about these things.

Steve Morgan made some rare public comments about Wolves this week and fair play to him for what he said, admitting some mistakes that he made when he was owner.

We all make the wrong decisions sometimes and in hindsight he can see that.

Steve was great for Wolves, he’s still putting money into Wolverhampton and he put the club on a great footing financially.

Sir Jack kicked it all off, Steve took it on, oversaw three years in the Premier League and improved the training ground, the stadium and the academy and now Fosun are looking to move everything on another level.

Elsewhere in the past week Danny Batth reached 200 appearances for the club – a great achievement.

Danny’s been absolutely brilliant for Wolves. He’s a local lad who’s taken an awful lot of stick but has bounced back and is a key part of this team under another new manager.

I have to applaud him and hopefully he’ll get to 300 and beyond. You need guys like Danny in your squad to help bring it all together – it’s not just about the technical ability or the flair players. That mental resilience is really important for a team and Danny’s got that in spades which will rub off on others too.

He’s the skipper, a dominating presence and a leader in the squad. Well done Danny.

Hopefully the lads who are in action during the international break come back injury-free and then we can all start looking forward to the big Villa game, which I’ll be previewing next week.
