Wolves’ new-boys are part of the pack says Conor Coady

Wolves’ close-knit team spirit could be a key factor in them hopefully having a successful season, defender Conor Coady believes.

The club made 12 additions in the summer transfer window and another 16 players left the club either permanently or on loan.

But with many of the squad at a similar age, Coady says they’ve been quick to integrate and a strong team spirit has already developed in Nuno Espirito Santo’s new-look squad, which the 24-year-old said was evident during and after Saturday’s 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest.

“To be honest considering there’s a lot of changes, it’s a very close group, a close-knit group,” Coady said.

“You can see at the end, all the coaching staff are on the pitch and everyone’s celebrating together.

“It’s one that we need if we want to do anything this season. You see with promoted teams they’re always together, their team spirit is fantastic. And we’re exactly the same here.

“We need to dig in together. You saw at Forest the team spirit but we need to keep like that, it’s a long old season.”

Nuno has made a strong impression on the sizeable Wolves squad.

A number have already spoken about his man management and positive influence on the group.

Coady said the whole backroom staff had impressed the squad in the past couple of months.

“The manager’s come in and the boys have taken to him really well,” he added.

“He and his coaching staff have been fantastic.

“Promotion is what everybody wants. Once the crowd gets with you, it’s a really tough team to play against. We need them with us to do anything this season.

“You don’t think about how things are going to gel, is this going to happen or is that going to happen.

“You’ve got to take it game by game and we’ve done that since the start of the season. We’re second in the table but we’ve done nothing yet.”
