Club officials are hopeful of putting the ‘sold out’ signs up for the Middlesbrough clash if brisk sales continue over the next two weeks.

The Jack Hayward Stand has already sold out, as has the main area of the Stan Cullis Stand.

Wolves have offered two ticket promotions for August 5 clash, with season ticket holders able to buy an extra ticket for £5.

The North Bank quadrant will be a designated ‘fan zone’ where fans can buy two tickets for £35.

Boro were relegated from the Premier League last season and are expected to take up their full 2,592 allocation.

It could be Wolves’ first league sell-out since the famous 6-4 win over Rotherham in League One in 2014.

Their only sell-out since then was for the Chelsea fifth-round FA Cup clash in February when a modern Molineux stadium record crowd of 30,193 – Wolves’ biggest home attendance since 1981.

The Boro clash will also be used to show the club's support for Carl Ikeme, who was recently diagnosed with acute leukaemia.

A bucket collection for Cure Leukaemia will take place outside the ground and 10 per cent of home ticket gate receipts will go to the same charity.

Banners and flags as well as messages on advertising boards will also highlight support for Ikeme, while a 'get well card' will be available in Wolfie's Den for fans to sign.
