Wolves in Austria: Nathan Judah and Tim Spiers' Day 1 diary

TS: You didn't look like a kid at Christmas when I set eyes on you shuffling into the airport at 7am with all the enthusiasm of an anaemic sloth

Quick triple check of the important stuff, iPhone, iPhone charger, back up charger, camera, tripod,2 camera batteries, 3 SD cards, laptop, headphones and podcast microphone!

Yep, you've guessed it, that's pretty heavy hand luggage - and that's before I'd even packed the moisturiser!

TS: The amount of moisturiser you brought caused a weight imbalance on the plane.

Some factor 30 was going to be essential, but the weekly forecast in Innsbruck had me spending my Sunday afternoon trawling through the Bullring in search of a cagoule in July.

Still it was all worth it when I arrived at Birmingham International to see Mr Spiers ready to go wearing a very bold 'A-team' t-shirt #retro

TS: Some things never go out of fashion. Although I give your four (yes, four) identical Roger Federer caps three years before they're being sold alongside Chuckle Brothers DVDs in the bargain basement.

The Wolves squad had left on an earlier flight with some big name players not making the trip.

Helder Costa was the main absentee and that is a big blow to Nuno Espirito Santo and all Wolves fans.

With the ankle injury from last season appearing to still be a major problem, the Molineux men might have to be without their Player of the Year for a good chunk of the season.

No Dominic Iorfa on the official club flight either, which will reignite the transfer speculation.

But let's not get too down folks, plenty to look forward too and brighter news on the horizon.

Anyway, back to the travel.

We had a stopover in Frankfurt, which was fine, until we realised it was a five hours before our connecting flight left.

Things went from bad to worse when Spiers received a complimentary upgrade to business class for the second flight to Innsbruck!

Of course he was very modest and gracious about the whole ordeal. Let's just say those 300 minutes went very slowly indeed.

TS: I almost scoffed on my complimentary cream cheese and tuna sandwiches when I realised how much leg room there was. I have to say, the sight of you slumping off to economy class while I mixed it with the high rollers was one of the highlights of the year. Anyone who knows Mr Judah will appreciate how much this will have damaged him psychologically for a very long time.

But all was forgiven as we descended into beautiful Innsbruck..the views from the plane were beyond stunning.

And ground zero wasn't too shabby either! I don't think there will be many more settings like the one that greeted us walking off the plane.

Once we'd picked up our rental car and Mr Spiers had swallowed an 800 euro damage waiver hold on his card, it was off to the small village of Schlitters to find our accommodation for the next nine nights.

Left hand drive was an interesting change, but apart from a minor incident with a kerb, the one hour journey was very smooth.

TS: I'll freely admit it was a nervous drive which saw me doing my best 'Maureen from Driving School' impression (google it kids). I've never driven a left-hand drive car before and your advice and instructions were restricted to such sentences as "that bar looks decent", "she's a bit of a looker" and "these mountain views really are spectacular."

Greeted by rolling hills throughout the drive, it was like being in a scene from The Hobbit rather than a football tour.

GPS did us proud and the view from our room isn't terrible either.

But the hard work for Wolves starts today (Tuesday) with Ruben Neves due to train with his team mates for the first time ahead of Werder Bremen on Wednesday night.

He'll be joined by the likes of Roderick Miranda, Barry Douglas, Ryan Bennett, John Ruddy and Willy Bolly.

There is plenty to get excited about, three games in nine days and the first glimpse of some potentially very special players.

Dinner in Schlitters at 9pm has minimal options, just the one restaurant in the village.

So a quick pizza to finish off the night and a some shut eye before a busy day.
