The Scot leaves after just seven months in charge, with Fosun set to appoint ex-Porto boss Nuno Espirito Santo as his successor in the next 24 hours.

First-team coaches Stuart Taylor and Rob Edwards are leaving with immediate effect, as is fitness chief Tony Daley who's been at wolves for ten years.

Goalkeeping coach Pat Mountain may stay within the academy, with discussions ongoing.

A statement from the club said: "Wolves and Paul Lambert have agreed to part company following a football review which took place at the end of the season.

"The club would like to place on record its thanks to Paul for his dedication and professionalism during his time at the club, which included some memorable victories, and wish him all the best in his future career.

"In addition, first team coaches Stuart Taylor and Rob Edwards, and head of sport science Tony Daley, will also be leaving Wolves with immediate effect.

"As part of the coaching restructure, the club are currently in discussions with Pat Mountain regarding the possibility of him taking up a role within the academy.

"Tony and Rob have given many years of loyal and committed service to Wolves, and the club would like to thank them for their substantial contributions over a long period of time.

"Along with Paul, all three departing members of the backroom staff leave with the club’s best wishes."

A further announcement on a new head coach and backroom team will be made in due course.

Lambert replaced Walter Zenga in November. He oversaw memorable FA Cup wins over Premier League sides Stoke City and Liverpool but results in the Championship were inconsistent and Wolves slipped into a relegation battle before eventually finishing 15th.

Lambert is the third head coach relieved of his duties during Fosun's 10-month tenure.

Kenny Jackett was sacked shortly after the Chinese conglomerate bought the club from Steve Morgan for £30million. His replacement Zenga lasted just 87 days before he too was sacked.

Nuno, who has also previously managed Rio Ave and Valencia, is a client of influential Portuguese agent Jorge Mendes, who has been advising Fosun.
