Wolves may delay move for Emmanuel Frimpong

Wolves could wait until January before they take Emmanuel Frimpong on loan – despite the Arsenal man reportedly turning down a temporary move to Ipswich.

It emerged this afternoon that the Molineux club are unconvinced the 20-year-old midfielder is ready to be thrust immediately into Championship action.

With Wayne Hennessey's newly-ruptured cruciate knee ligament fresh in their mind and Frimpong having suffered an identical injury in February while on loan at Wolves, the club want to be sure he is fully fit before committing themselves.

Frimpong has played 80 minutes over two Capital One Cup games since suffering his injury for Wolves at QPR on February 4.

Sources in the capital say Wolves are favourites to land Frimpong who has reportedly told friends he won't be joining Ipswich, fuelling speculation that he is set to pitch up at Molineux.

Former Wolves boss Mick McCarthy has spoken to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger about taking the midfielder he brought to Molineux in January.

Meanwhile, Bjorn Sigurdarson today insisted he is ready to deliver on his potential for Wolves as he pleaded for more game-time.

Still only 20, the £2.4m summer signing from Lillestrom had his best outing yet as a 57th-minute substitute in the 3-3 draw against Brighton on Saturday.

Sigurdarson has so far scored once in 11 Championship games, but only two of those have been starts.

"I'm really enjoying it and getting into a shape I've never been in before," he said. "It's only going to go forwards from now on."
