TNS handed tricky Welsh Cup tie

Last season’s beaten finalists The New Saints face a tricky trip to Cymru Alliance high-fliers Caernarfon Town in the fourth round of the Welsh Cup.

The two sides met in a thrilling tie three years ago at the Oval, with TNS – six times winners of the cup – hitting back from a two goal deficit to emerge 3-2 victors.

And just last October their paths crossed in the Nathaniel MG Cup with the Welsh Premier leaders prevailing 2-0 in the quarter-final at Park Hall.

But the Canaries – last season’s beaten semi-finalists – are certain to provide a tough hurdle for TNS boss Scott Ruscoe and his men on home surrounds.

Newtown are also away to Cymru Alliance opposition in the form of Flint Town United, while surprise package Llanrhaeadr, in the last 16 for only the second time, have a plum home tie with eight times winners Bangor City.
