Scott Ruscoe tells The New Saints to keep momentum going

The New Saints will want to force home their three-point advantage at the top of the Welsh Premier League when Barry Town United visit Park Hall tomorrow.

Three of their last four league games have been at home, and the Saints will be in confident mood following last weekend’s 2-1 success against fellow pacesetters Cardiff Met University.

They will now be chasing a double after winning 1-0 away to Barry back in August, with Wes Fletcher getting the only goal of the game.

But TNS boss Scott Ruscoe anticipates a tricky challenge against a Barry side who are keen to make a favourable impression since their return to the top flight after more than a decade.

However, after a creditable start, the visitors from south Wales have lost their last four games – the most recent a 1-0 reverse on Sunday to Connah’s Quay Nomads who moved second to stay in touch with TNS.

“We’re three points clear, have also opened up a bit of space on the other sides below, so we now want to build on that and keep the momentum going,” said Ruscoe.

“We’re at home again, that’s three of our last four league games, but we’ll be wary of Barry who are doing OK and have had some good wins against strong teams.

“We had a close game down there, they were well drilled and organised, so we won’t be treating them lightly.”

Ever-present right-back Simon Spender is suspended after being sent off for handball against Met.
