Harry Burgoyne ready for Shrewsbury challenge

Shrewsbury goalkeeper Harry Burgoyne feels it will be ‘all systems go’ under boss Steve Cotterill next season as he aims to be the main man between the sticks.

The 24-year-old admits he enjoyed the experience of playing 23 games last season, despite Matija Sarkic and Deyan Iliev both arriving on loan.

Burgoyne believes the difference that Cotterill – who was absent through illness for four months – will bring to the side upon his return is unimaginable.

“It’s always the goal of mine to be the main man, whatever club you’re at you always want to be the main man,” said Burgoyne.

“If you told me the start of the season, after getting two loan goalkeepers in, I’d have played as many games I probably wouldn’t have believed you.

“To play as many as I have, I’ve been really pleased.”

Former Wolves youngster Burgoyne, who is from Ludlow, added: “I’d say it’ll be all systems go (under Cotterill next season). There will be a lot of ideas to come in that maybe haven’t been because he’s not been present.

“I think it’ll be a very exciting time moving forward for Shrewsbury Town.

“You can only imagine how organised he will make the team and how successful we’ll be, I’m really looking forward to the challenge.”

Cotterill is in the market for a new goalkeeper this summer.
