Curtis Main holding fire on talks over Shrewsbury Town future

Shrewsbury striker Curtis Main has revealed talks on his future will have to be shelved until he speaks to the boss.

Steve Cotterill is not talking to Town players about their futures until after the final game of the season, and while Main has enjoyed his brief time in Shropshire, the January signing admits there is no use planning a future if aims of the player and club do not align.

Former Middlesbrough youngster Main has netted twice for Town since he checked in as a deadline day free agent after leaving Aberdeen. The 28-year-old, who has also played for Doncaster and Portsmouth, has been rotated with Daniel Udoh in the frontline.

"Moving to the summer it will be nice to get something sorted," said Main, who signed a six-month deal at Shrewsbury.

"To kind of get settled in a club and to build a good relationship with the club and transition that on to the pitch and perform and do what I am definitely capable of doing.

"I'm looking forward to the summer, anyway."

"Away from the football side of things, then definitely," Main added about life in Shrewsbury.

"With the football, then I need to have a discussion with the manager, I can't really say it's something that is going to suit if I sit down with the manager and both parties aren't reading off the same page.

"That's something I will discuss with the club moving forward."

The powerful frontman is yet to meet Cotterill in person given the manager's absence through illness, a fact that sums up a 'bizarre and alien' time.

He added: "I've enjoyed it since I've been here, but it has been bizarre to be honest.

"I know football across the board has been quite alien, in terms of what we're used to, and it's not enjoyable not having the fans in every weekend.

"And with the managerial situation, that's another thing on top that's not been natural at all, in that respect it's been very, very different to what you'd expect.

"But there's not much you can do about it, you've got to get on with it."
