Town's next fixture will instead be back at Montgomery Waters Meadow, for the first time since December 28, against third-placed Peterborough next Saturday.

Shrewsbury were set to visit the Pirelli Stadium for their second league game without recovering manager Steve Cotterill, but will now have a free week as they recover from lengthy trips to Southampton and Sunderland following an enforced Covid break of their own.

Aaron Wilbraham and David Longwell's team have lost both fixtures, a gallant 2-0 FA Cup reverse at Southampton and a narrow 1-0 defeat to Sunderland in League One yesterday, which leaves them two points above the drop zone.

It was the first league defeat since Cotterill was appointed in late November, as Town's eight match unbeaten run came to an end.

The Brewers confirmed 'several' positive Covid-19 cases and that the squad is now self isolating.
