Pugh shared the news on his Instagram profile, becoming the first Town player to reveal they have returned a positive test.

The 33-year-old former Bournemouth man said he was not feeling any symptoms but will now enter a period of isolation.

He wrote on his 'thefoodiefootballer' profile – an account which promotes healthy eating: "Unfortunately I've tested positive for Covid.

"I feel absolutely fine but looking to give my immune system that extra boost to stay healthy and fighting fit."

Town and all EFL clubs are undergoing a round of coronavirus testing ahead of this weekend's FA Cup third round tie.

There have been two previous reports of positive tests at Shrewsbury, which resulted in last Saturday's League One clash with Crewe being postponed. It is not yet known what affect Pugh's test could have on Saturday's tie at Southampton.
