The winger became Steve Cotterill’s first signing as Town after agreeing a season-long loan switch from Blackburn on Thursday.

Cotterill replaced the sacked Sam Ricketts at the end of November and inherited a side sitting 23rd League One, just one point above rock-bottom Wigan. But Town’s transformation under the former Birmingham boss been staggering.

Undefeated in seven league games, that run includes impressive wins over high-flying Hull, Lincoln and Doncaster.

It means Shrewsbury are now eight points behind sixth-placed Charlton.

And Chapman believes the team has the potential to continue rising up the table.

“I’m excited, I can’t wait to get going now,” Chapman said after joining Town.

“The manager is really optimistic and he’s very excited about this team.

“The results have picked up massively since he came in and we are looking to push on, we want to kick on towards that top six. We have got great experience here – that is what you need in a successful team. The squad looks great.”

An exciting winger, Chapman has featured for seven times for Blackburn this season.

But he is determined to get regular playing time in Shropshire.

“I wasn’t getting much game time and I was limited to what I was able to show,” Chapman continued.

“Hopefully coming here with this manager, he puts his full trust in me and I get some games under my belt.”

Asked what type of player he is, Chapman added: “I am dynamic, I like to run at people, and like to take people on.

“I like to create chances for my team-mates. I wouldn’t say I’m a goalscorer, I’m more of a provider.”
