The tie, scheduled for the weekend of January 5, could see midfielder Ryan Woods face his boyhood club competitively for the first time since leaving in 2015.

Gary Rowett's Stoke were relegated from the Premier League last season. They are 12th in the second tier with six wins, nine draws and five defeats from 20 matches.

Shrewsbury, who have appointed Sam Ricketts as boss, have seen off Salford City and Scunthorpe United to reach the third round stage for the fifth time in 23 attempts.

Meanwhile, Wolves will host seven-time winners Liverpool, while West Brom will face Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup third-round.

The Molineux men will hope to emulate their famous 2-1 win over the Reds at Anfield back in 2017 under former manager Paul Lambert.

Darren Moore's Baggies host Wigan and will be looking for revenge following their surprising 1-0 league defeat in October.

And Dean Smith's revitalised Aston Villa will fancy their chances to get through against Swansea City with home advantage.

Shrewsbury v Stoke

Wolves v Liverpool
